Forsyth County DWI Lawyer
Important Questions to Consider When Charged with a DWI
“My License was seized by the police – Is my license suspended? Do I have to wait a 30-day period in order to drive? Am I eligible for a pre-trial driving privilege? Can I drive to my place of work? Can I drop my kids off at school? If I’m convicted, will I lose the right to drive for a year?”
These are some of the questions we are asked by DWI clients. Considering that every case is different, you will need the right information based on the facts of your case.
What Should I Do Now?
Schedule a DWI Assessment
Anyone charged with DWI in North Carolina should immediately schedule an alcohol / substance abuse assessment at a treatment center licensed specifically for this purpose. Completing a pretrial assessment is required before your attorney can petition the court for a pretrial limited driving privilege. Search online for the alcohol / substance abuse treatment centers in your county.

Do Not Drive Until You Are Legally Permitted
If a pre-trial limited driving privilege is authorized in your case, it can be valid on the 11th day after your license was revoked for DWI.
In most cases, if your license was revoked at the time of arrest and you voluntarily consented to an alcohol measuring breath test, you may pick up your license from the Clerk of Court on the 31st day after your license was revoked for DWI.
